The Mater Dolorosa (Our Lady of Sorrows) is a catholic church situated in the city of Samsun in northern Turkey. The construction of the original church is believed to have started in 1846 by Capuchin monks. This original church measured 8x12m. In 1876, permission was granted to build the church that stands today. In 1885 a cemetery and a cloister were built next to the church.
In 2006, Roman Catholic French priest Pierre Brunnissen 74, of the Mater Dolorosa church of Samsun was stabbed by a Turk.
