The Psomiadis School (Gr: Ψωμειάδειος Σχολή, Tr: Psomiadis Rum Okulu) was located in the Taşbaşı precinct of Ordu (Gr: Kotyora). The Greeks called the precinct Hypapánte. The school was built between 1870-1873 and was funded by Kostantinos S. Psomiadis. It functioned as a semi-high school (ημιγυμνάσιο) which offered education to students as an extension to primary school.
The school had 9 classes and the students were taught a conventional syllabus in addition to various practical subjects. According to one online source (kulturenvanteri.com) only the wall remains today.
Konstantinos Psomiadis
Konstantinos S. Psomiadis was born in Ordu. His parents were Spyridon and Elizabeth. He moved to Constantinople (Tr: Istanbul) at a young age where he established himself within the community. He married Athena Tambaka who was from a respectable family of Tatavla (Tr: Kurtuluş), formerly a district of Istanbul which was predominantly Greek. For around 20 years he lived there and served the community primarily as a school supervisor.
